I recently came accross these videos by Ruth Searle from Rocket Piano. She is giving free piano lessons over at song pond.

I have made a video playlist of a few of them…  just hover over the video to see the playlist and navegate or just let it run to see them all back to back.

The people at about.com have kindly provided us with a list of free piano sheet music which can be downloaded and printed out.

The interface is a bit clumsy as you have to print out each page separately but as a way to get completely free and legal sheet music its not that bad. If you subscribe to 8notes.com (the providers of the sheet music) then you can download the entire scores in one go.

Iv’e just come accross a new ebook for jazz keyboard lessons or Jazz piano for beginners. I’ve read the sales pages and it looks to be fantastic but I have yet to take a look at the book myself. If your goal is to produce your own music then you really do need to learn to play keyboards. Even a basic knowledge will get you a long way.

There are those who believe that if you know how to handle the music software then playing piano isn’t important at all but if you have a basic knowledge of piano playing then you will be able to form much richer chords and arrangements even though the sounds that you are producing are not piano sounds but other instruments.

To learn to play keyboards is essential for any composer or songwriter.
